COR MEETINGS

IMPORTANT STATEMENT RE: COR MEETINGS IN 2023

COR Mansfield is a group of Mansfield community members who connected in 2019 after some racist events took place in our town. The group began meeting in the fall of 2019 and early 2020, during which time we began to focus on anti-racism and generating a safe space to discuss topics on racism and inclusiveness. Once the pandemic started, events and anti-racism trainings we had planned were postponed and we moved into semi-monthly virtual discussions on relevant topics. We continued to hold those discussions until the spring of 2022.

Since COR Mansfield’s inception, several groups and initiatives have been developed, including staff equity trainings in Mansfield Public Schools and 8th grade participation in the Witness Stones Project; The Cultural Awareness Brigade (CAB) at E.O. Smith High School; and the creation of the Town of Mansfield’s Human Rights Commission. Because these initiatives have taken on the kind of work for which COR was created, and because we have an active local NAACP Branch dedicated to educating the community, we have decided to discontinue discussions for the time being. We will continue to share events and other initiatives on our Facebook page as we hear about them. We now also have a mailing list of people who care about diversity, equity, and inclusion in our town should the need arise for a public gathering. We encourage you to support or become part of the initiatives we mentioned. You can also keep in touch with us through email.
